Police raid St Ann’s address and discover cannabis deal bags

A front door to a house in St Ann’s was forced open by officers this morning following intelligence linking the address to drug supply.

The early morning raid saw police break down the door to get into a flat just off Mansfield Road.

Once inside they discovered deal bags of what is believed to be cannabis, a quantity of white power believed to be cocaine and seized two mobile phones at the property.

City South neighbourhood, local Op Reacher team and Response officers searched the house at around 8.45am on Thursday (15 April 2021).

A 36-year-old man was located in his car nearby shortly after the drugs raid and was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply. He remains in police custody.

The warrant followed local intelligence being shared by local concerned residents to officers.

Inspector Karl Thomas thanked the community for working closely with his team.

He said: “We want to send the clear message that criminal behaviour will not be tolerated in the City South area and we will continue to target offenders who persist in causing harm and misery in our communities.

“We are continuing to work closely together with our partners to tackle issues that our local residents and businesses have told us matter most to them.

“I hope the positive impact and results we’re achieving reassures the public of our determination to make our streets safer.

“I’d also like to reassure people that we take all reports drug crime  very seriously as we understand the detrimental impact these types of crimes can have on the lives of residents.”

Nottinghamshire Police has been spearheading the push to drive local residents to sign up to Nottinghamshire Alert so they can have direct engagement with the force and its partners around issues that matter to them.

The force is encouraging more residents to sign up to the police messaging system so they can stay up-to-date with the latest crime prevention advice and other safety announcements.

Residents can also visit the City South neighbourhood page on the force’s website for the latest news, social media posts, monthly blogs and contact details.
