Police were led to large haul of illegal drugs after responding to reports of a violent burglary at another local address.
Officers were called to a flat in Nottingham Road, New Basford, after a disturbance was reported involving around half a dozen men.
Witnesses reported hearing a commotion inside and later seeing the men leaving the property, followed by an injured man, at around 10.25am on Sunday morning.
When officers searched the address they found no one inside but did uncover evidence that led them to a nearby address on the same road.
After gaining entry to the second property they found more than 300 cannabis plants and a significant quantity of dried, vacuum sealed bags of the drug.
The combined value of the haul is thought to be in excess of £300,000. The drugs have now been removed by a specialist dismantling team and will now be destroyed.
An array of sophisticated growing equipment will also be put beyond use.
Ramazan Cobaj, 23, and Sabian Bishaj, 19, both of Nottingham Road, were both charged with the production of cannabis and remanded in custody to appear at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday afternoon.
Cobaj pleaded guilty to the offence and will next appear at Nottingham Crown Court on 6 July.
Bishaj did not enter a plea and will next appear in court on 13 July.
Investigations are ongoing into both incidents.
Detective Sergeant Lauren Morgan, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Our investigation into these two incidents are still at an early stage and we are working hard to identify everyone involved.
“House-to-house enquiries have been undertaken but we are still keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the original disturbance, which we believe to have been an aggravated burglary.
“Drugs and violence very often go hand-in-hand and this kind of behaviour will never be tolerated on the streets of Nottinghamshire. I would urge anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious to contact us immediately on 101 quoting incident 265 of 13 June.”
