Police recover drugs and zombie knife after A52 Clifton Boulevard collision

A 23-year-old man was arrested.

Police responding to a road traffic collision found drugs and a large zombie-style knife after smelling cannabis inside a damaged car.

Officers attended the incident on the A52 Clifton Boulevard at around 7.15pm yesterday (Friday) evening.

One of the two vehicles involved had collided with a crash barrier and had severe front-end damage.

As one of the officers on the scene tried to move the car he noticed a strong smell of cannabis and began a wider search of the vehicle.

A small quantity of cannabis was recovered inside and a large zombie knife was found in the boot.

A 23-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possessing a bladed article, possession cannabis and drug driving.

The investigation is ongoing.

Superintendent Suk Verma, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “This was a great example of a police officer literally following their nose to uncover a more serious crime. This vehicle contained not only illegal drugs, but also a potential deadly weapon that has now been taken off the streets for good.”
