Police seize large quantity of drugs after spotting street deal in progress

Police recovered a large quantity of Class A drugs after spotting a suspected street deal.

Officers from the City knife crime team were on patrol in the Hyson Green area when they spotted the activity in Maples Street at around midday on Tuesday (20 June).

A suspect was searched and more than 40 wraps of suspected crack cocaine and heroin were recovered from his underwear.

A 20-year-old man appeared at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday where he pleaded guilty to two counts of possessing Class A drugs with intent to supply, and one count of possessing a Class B drug with intent to supply.

He was remanded into custody and will be sentenced at Nottingham Crown Court on 12 July.

Detective Constable Dionne Love, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Drug dealing and drug related crime is a blight on our communities. That’s why we conduct these kind of proactive patrols to disrupt the activity of local dealers and reduce the associated risk of violent crime.”
