On 7 October officers from Mansfield South Neighbourhood Policing Team conducted proactive plain clothed patrols in the Mansfield area.
Police said:
‘During their patrols officers saw an illegal electric motorcycle, officers were able to apprehend the rider who will be prosecuted for various driving offences. The bike was also seized.
‘Whilst officers were dealing with the first individual, a second electric motorcycle was apprehended just around the corner, the rider of the illegal motorcycle was searched and a large quantity of drugs were found upon their person.
‘The second motorcycle was also seized and the rider arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply along with various driving offences.
‘As a team we understand the detrimental impact that illegal motorcycles have on the community, vehicle crime and anti social behavior is one of our local policing priorities raised after consultation with the community.
‘We will continue to utilise every tactic at our disposal to ensure that those who choose to flaunt the law are brought to justice.’
