The incident was reported on the A50.
Police say the driver of the vehicle, which had broken down, just left it there locked up in a live lane without notifying emergency services.
Luckily no other vehicles using the dual carriageway ended up involved in a collision with the parked vehicle.
The owner will now face prosecution say officers.
