Police have arrested a man as part of an ongoing investigation into a serious sexual assault on a woman in a park.
Multiple lines of enquiry have been followed up since the incident took place around 3am on Saturday, 21 December, when a young woman was assaulted in Victoria Park, Bath Street, Sneinton, Nottingham.
A 19-year-old man was arrested yesterday evening (Friday, 27 December 2024) on suspicion of rape. He remains in custody.
Detective Inspector Nicole Milner, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:
“The victim has been informed of this development and continues to be supported by specially trained officers.
“Although we have arrested a suspect, this remains an ongoing investigation, and I would ask anyone with information that may assist us with our enquiries to please come forward if they haven’t already done so.
“We understand the concern this incident has caused in the local community. I want to reassure people that we treat reports of this nature extremely seriously.
“As a force, we will never tolerate violence against women and girls, and we will continue to do everything we can to pursue perpetrators and bring them to justice.”
