Police tackle nuisance drivers on A453 and Clifton Park and Ride

After reports of nuisance motorbikes around the A453 at Ratcliffe-on-Soar on Friday and Saturday evening police officers patrolled the area.

Rushcliffe Police said:

‘Officers from Rushcliffe, City South and Operational Support issued section 59 warnings to drivers driving dangerously at the Clifton Park and Ride site and Daleside Road.

‘Officers seized a vehicle for a repeated breach of a section 59 warning and also seized a vehicles which had been reported as stolen, along with this further traffic offence report forms were issued for manner of driving and construction and use offences.

‘Hopefully the residents of Ratcliffe on Soar, Sutton Bonington, Thrumpton, Saxondale and Bingham are pleased with a night where they didn’t have to contact the police about noise nuisance or dangerous driving in their communities.’

Section 59

Section 59 of the Police Reform Act 2002 used by police constables and police community support officers (PCSOs) to seize vehicles being used in an anti-social manner. Vehicles can be seized if the officer reasonably believes that a mechanically propelled vehicle is being used in a manner: causing, or likely to cause alarm, distress or annoyance to the public,
and:
contravening section 3 (careless/inconsiderate driving), or
contravening section 34 (prohibition of off-road driving/driving other than a road) of the Road Traffic Act 1988.
