Police officers combined to arrest two suspects following reports of a burglary in which car keys were stolen.
Police were called to a house in Caister Road, Clifton, at 4.15am today (2 June) after two cars were reportedly taken from the driveway.
Officers were quickly at the scene and within minutes spotted one of the cars reported stolen while conducting a search of the Nobel Road estate, Clifton.
The car was then abandoned in Wilkins Gardens, with officers quickly arresting one of the suspects, a 13-year-old boy, who was also found to have a knife in his possession.
A police drone was then used to search the Clifton area, which led to another suspect, a 17-year-old boy outstanding for a separate offence, being discovered in the woods near Waterdown Road.
The 17-year old boy was arrested on suspicion of burglary and for escaping lawful custody, while the 13-year-old boy was also arrested on suspicion of burglary and for possession of a bladed article.
Both suspects remain in police custody.
Detective Sergeant Andy Buxton, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “This was a really great piece of police work, which saw a number of our teams, including Operational Support and Response, work together seamlessly to quickly make two arrests.
“Without the speedy response of our officers and the brilliant teamwork showcased here, we could have missed a great opportunity to recover this stolen property, so I’d like to praise our officers for their actions.
“Burglary is an incredibly invasive crime that can be extremely upsetting for victims and can have a long-term impact on people, which is why we take every report we receive so seriously.
“As our investigation continues, this incident is also a timely reminder to residents to make sure their homes are kept secure at all times.
“Our enquiries remain ongoing into this incident, so if anyone has any information that could assist us, we’d ask that they get in touch straight away by calling the police on 101, quoting incident 75 of 2 June 2022.”
