Police warning after spate of car thefts in West Bridgford

Please say that residents can be assured police are investigating the incidents.

There have been several incidents of vehicle theft in Rushcliffe North area and particularly in West Bridgford police say.

 

Sergeant Sands of the West Bridgford Neighbourhood Policing Team said:

“For the time being residents should consider the following safety advice.

“Use a Faraday Pouch, keeping your car keys in this can prevent thieves from amplifying the signal.

“Steering wheel locks, these maybe something of old however it is another barrier for the thieves to get through and acts as a visible deterrent.

“Park in a garage if you have access to one, it isn’t common nowadays to use our garages for anything other than storage however putting your car in there makes it less accessible.“

The Sergeant also recommends,

“Extra security, should you be a victim of this crime these security measures could assist the investigation.

Utilise a tracking device, while this isn’t preventative it will assist police recovering your vehicle as early as possible and may assist with the apprehension of suspects.

Installing CCTV which is out of reach from criminals.

Ring doorbell, these are common place and upload in to the cloud on certain subscription plans.

Security lights, ensure these do not interfere with the quality of the CCTV recording.”
