Potholes: Find out how many repairs over 5 years in your Nottinghamshire ward area

Nottinghamshire County Council figures have revealed the number of potholes repaired in every part of the county since 2016.

A Freedom of Information (FOI) request to the authority found 476,043 potholes were fixed by the authority between 2016/17 and 2020/21, with Newark and Sherwood receiving the most repairs.

In total, the district received 147,752 pothole repairs in the five-year period, with the Muskham and Farnsfield division receiving 30,904 in this time.

This is the most of any area in Nottinghamshire and is more than the number of potholes repaired in the entire Rushcliffe borough during the five-year window.

The Newark and Sherwood area with the fewest repairs was Newark West, where 6,011 potholes were fixed by the authority.

Rushcliffe borough received the fewest overall repairs at 28,437, with West Bridgford South receiving the least borough-wide at 1,359.

The Leake and Ruddington division was the Rushcliffe area with the highest number of repairs, with 5,559 over five years.

Selston received the most repairs across Ashfield, with 8,703, while Ashfields division received the fewest at 2,659. There were 46,248 repairs district-wide.

A further 104,515 repairs were conducted in Bassetlaw during this period, with Tuxford division receiving the most at 23,090. Worksop West received the fewest at 4,942.

In Broxtowe, the council conducted 39,732 repairs over five years. Stapleford and Broxtowe Central division received the most repairs at 9,549, while the area with the fewest was Beeston Central and Rylands, with 2,435.

There were a further 60,769 repairs across Gedling borough during the same period, with Arnold South division receiving the most at 17,132.

The Gedling area with the fewest repairs was Newstead, with 5,555 between 2016 and 2021.

And in Mansfield, the council conducted 48,590 pothole repairs during this period, fixing the most in Mansfield South division at 10,950.

The area in the district with the fewest repairs was Warsop, where Nottinghamshire County Council repaired 6,599 potholes from April 2016 to March this year.

On average there were about 8,500 potholes repaired across the 56 county council districts during the five-year period.

Gary Wood, head of highways and transport on the council, said: “In May 2021, we announced we would be setting up a cross-party highways review panel to look at all aspects of our highways maintenance.

“This includes road inspections, improvement programmes and funding, maintenance treatments, and repair techniques.

“All our current repair techniques, including those used to fill potholes, are under review by our highways review panel.”
