A prisoner threatened to firebomb a social worker’s car leaving her in fear for her safety.
Glynn Johnson made the violent threat at HMP Nottingham on 29 September 2021, threatening to carry it out once he was released.
The social worker struggled to cope after Johnson’s threat, didn’t feel safe at work or driving her car and no longer felt safe in her own home.
Johnson went on to plead guilty to a charge of threatening to damage or destroy property and was sentenced at Nottingham Crown Court on Tuesday (4 May 2021).
The 34-year-old, who made his threat prior to being transferred to HMP Ranby, was given a two-year prison sentence, suspended for two years, and made subject of a six-month curfew.
He must also complete 25 rehabilitation activity requirement days and his sentence also included a mental health treatment requirement.
Sergeant Mark Adkin, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Johnson’s threats caused immense distress to the social worker.
“This type of intimidating behaviour will not be tolerated and I hope Johnson can now see the real damage his actions and words actually caused.”
