Pub fire ’caused by naked flame’ says fire service

Firefighters from Ilkeston, Heanor, and Ascot Drive (with the aerial ladder platform), alongside crews from Nottinghamshire’s Stapleford and West Bridgford, attended the incident.

An investigation into the cause of a fire at a public house in Ilkeston has determined the most likely cause to be accidental, due to a naked flame igniting combustible materials.

Emergency services were called to the public house on South Street, Ilkeston, at 14:32 hours on Wednesday, 19 March 2025.

Firefighters from Ilkeston, Heanor, and Ascot Drive (with the aerial ladder platform), alongside crews from Nottinghamshire’s Stapleford and West Bridgford, attended the incident.

Derbyshire Constabulary were also in attendance.

Upon arrival, fire crews located a fire in the roof space of the premises. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used one hose reel jet and the aerial ladder platform to extinguish the fire.
