Radcliffe: Snack Stop owner celebrates over 25 years in business as she sells up and retires

Julie and her mum, Joan took over Snack Stop in Radcliffe on Trent 25 years ago.

That’s when they a new ambitious journey to be shop owners leaving their old jobs behind – and they took the plunge into catering.

It was a huge success and both worked well together as mum and daughter.

When Joan retired, Julie’s younger sister Jane bought into the business setting Joan free to enjoy her own retirement with husband Dave.

Jane and Julie ran the shop again successfully when Jane a couple of years later then decided to take a new journey in catering focusing on special occasion cakes.

Julie then became the sole owner of Snack Stop, building a loyal clientele, offering new menus and delivering outside catering for all occasions.

Julie’s daughter Laura said:

‘Her hard work, determination and strong work ethic carried her through the tough years of the pandemic and many other financial crisis.

‘Julie’s warm, friendly, hardworking and loyal nature is felt by the community and over the years she has seen some amazing women join her helping her serve, take deliveries and support with buffets.

‘Julie has people pop their head in daily to say a friendly hello, which is a true reflection of the lovely community they have all built over the years.

‘She has poured her heart and soul into Snack Stop and given it her all. What a huge achievement to run a successful business for 25 years!

‘Julie thought long and hard about retirement and decided to sell up, selling it to two women who have a keen attitude to follow in Julie’s legacy at Snack Stop.

‘Julie’s desire is to now focus on travelling to Australia to see her son and his family and spend time with her daughter and beautiful granddaughters. Julie is also  excited to spend time with Hugo, her dog, who she adores!

‘John, Julie’s husband has been a constant support to Julie over the years and has always believed in her. This runs through their marriage which is why Snack Stop has been a win.

‘They both are looking forward to spending more time away in the caravan and to not be tied into Julie’s six day-a-week dedication to her business.

‘If anyone who has been to snack stop, met Julie and her team or just appreciates the hard work she has done, pop and wish her farewell in the next coming weeks.

‘Let’s share the love and acknowledge what a huge milestone this is. Congratulations Julie on your retirement!’
