RAF Boeing CH-47 Chinook spotted over West Bridgford and Nottingham

The familiar distant rumble sounded out as the aircraft flew over at 3:21 pm on Friday 23 September.

The helicopter has flown across this morning but we were too late to catch that one!

This aircraft Reg ZA712 is based at Northolt Aerodrome.

Boeing: ‘The CH-47F is an advanced multi-mission helicopter for the U.S. Army and international defence forces.

‘It contains a fully integrated, digital cockpit management system, Common Avionics Architecture System (CAAS) Cockpit and advanced cargo-handling capabilities that complement the aircraft’s mission performance and handling characteristics.’

‘The latest modernisation initiative known as Chinook Block II is a testament to the robustness of the Chinook’s original design and its 55-year legacy of technological advancements. With these new capabilities, Boeing is ensuring that the iconic H-47 remains the most reliable, capable and ready medium-to-heavy-lift helicopter into the 2060s and beyond.’
