Rail: Disruption after person hit by train between Newark and Lincoln


A person has been hit by a train between Newark Castle and Lincoln Central.

This is disrupting trains on the Leicester/Nottingham/Lincoln & Newark Northgate/Lincoln/Grimsby routes.

Network Rail are with the train, emergency services are expected to arrive very shortly.

How does this affect my train?

No trains on the route can run between Newark Castle and Lincoln Central.

Trains between Leicester and Lincoln Central will operate between Leicester and Nottingham only.

Trains on the Peterborough / Lincoln / Newark Northgate route cannot currently run between Newark Northgate and Lincoln Central.

Services between Matlock / Nottingham / Newark Castle are still able to run.
At present we are expecting the line to fully reopen in the next 90 minutes.

Normal train service is expected to resume on the affected routes at around 16:00.

How do I get where I need to be?

Ticket acceptance is in place on the following diversionary routes:
– Nottingham/Grantham/Sleaford/Lincoln
– Lincoln/Worksop/Sheffield/Nottingham
Rail replacement transport is now starting to run between;
– Newark Castle, Newark Northgate and Lincoln Central
