Rail: No trains between Nottingham -Newark – Lincoln because of cable theft

East Midlands Railway says no trains can run for the rest of this evening.

EMR said at 6:25 pm Sunday 25 February:

‘Due to theft of signalling cables we are unable to run any trains for the rest of the evening between Nottingham and Lincoln and between Lincoln and Newark NorthGate.’

‘There is a theft of signalling cables near Newark. This is between Nottingham and Lincoln Central and is disrupting our trains on the Leicester/Nottingham/Lincoln/Grimsby route and the Lincoln/Newark North-gate route.

‘Network Rail are sending teams to the area, we do not have an estimate for when they will arrive. We are expecting the lines to remain closed for the rest of the evening.
