Rail: Nottingham – London St Pancras delays after train vandalised

A train has been vandalised near Harpenden between Luton Airport Parkway and London St Pancras and is disrupting trains on the Intercity Sheffield/Nottingham/London and Connect Corby/London routes.
At present the vandalised train is waiting for technicians to make it safe to move, currently no estimate of when they will arrive.

East Midlands Railways said:

‘Trains running through the area in both directions may be delayed by 5-10 minutes between Luton Airport Parkway and London St Pancras.

‘Our trains on this route are not directly affected by this problem so most of them should run normally, this is because the vandalised train is clear of the lines we run on, however some slower moving trains may have to divert on to the faster lines that we use.

‘At present we are expecting the problem to be fixed in the next hour. As soon as the problem is fixed our priority will be to get trains running to their advertised times again. We expect our advertised timetable to resume on the affected routes by 1600.’
