Rail: Overhead cable damage affecting Newark – Nottingham services

Severe weather is causing delays on train services.

East Midlands Railway said on Thursday 21 December:

‘Due to severe weather there is damage to the overhead electric wires between Stoke-on-Trent and Crewe is causing disruption to journeys between these stations.

‘This is causing delays on our Crewe/Derby/Nottingham route. Services may be cancelled or revised.

‘We anticipate disruption will continue until 10:00.’

‘Trains running through the area in both directions cannot run.
At present we are expecting the problem to be resolved by 10:00. As soon as the problem is fixed our priority will be to get trains running to their advertised times again.’
