Rail: Severe delays into this afternoon on Nottingham – London route after person is struck by a train

A person has been hit by a train near Wellingborough between Wellingborough & Bedford disrupting trains on the Sheffield/Nottingham/London route.

East Midlands Trains said:

‘We are hoping to be able to introduce a reduced timetable on our London/Nottingham/Sheffield route as a temporary measure to allow us to fully recover our timetable.

Below is what we hope to run out of London St Pancras:

Southbound:

XX:00 Sheffield to London St Pancras to run.
XX:12 Nottingham to London St Pancras to run.
Northbound:

XX:05 London St Pancras to Nottingham to run.
XX:31 London St Pancras to Sheffield to run.’

‘WE ARE STRONGLY RECOMMENDING CUSTOMERS NOT TO TRAVEL THIS MORNING, YOUR ADVANCE PURCHASE TICKETS WILL BE VALID ON ALTERNATIVE SERVICES

‘Buses to run between Kettering, Wellingborough & Bedford.

‘At present we are expecting the line to fully reopen in the next hour. Our normal train service is not expected to resume on the affected route until later this afternoon.’
