For the first time in four years, Rainbows Hospice for Children and Young People is delighted to offer people in Nottinghamshire the unique chance to look around its site.
On Saturday 22 April, visitors to Open Day will see first-hand how their support makes a world of difference to the services and facilities available at Rainbows for babies, children, young people and their families.
Open Day is also the perfect chance to discover what hospice care is, meet the team and hear how the charity is supporting families across the East Midlands, affected by serious and terminal conditions.
The hospice grounds will also play host to a Rainbows’ mascot Bow Bear Hunt, giving youngsters the opportunity to explore the gardens, find Bow Bear’s clues and win a Rainbows prize.
There has not been an Open Day at the Loughborough-based hospice since 2019 because of Covid restrictions and the event scheduled to take place last year was cancelled as a mark of respect to the death of Her Majesty the Queen.
Alison Furlong, Head of Community and Events at Rainbows, welcomes people in Nottinghamshire to the event. “We are so pleased to announce a new date for our Open Day as it gives the community a chance to come and see what we do,” she said.
“It is about celebrating the incredible work that happens at Rainbows and a chance for people to experience the hospice through the eyes of our babies, children, young people and their families.
“There will also the opportunity to hear about our exciting plans for the future, find out about our events for the year, and discover how you can support us in providing the Rainbows experience at the hospice, in hospitals and out in the community.
“We are very proud of our hospice, and all we have to offer to help brighten short lives, but we couldn’t do it without your support. We hope to see you at our Open Day and to have a chat with you over tea and cake in the marquee, giving you the chance to ask any questions you may have.”
The event takes place at Rainbows Hospice, Lark Rise, Loughborough, from 10.30 am to 4 pm. There is no charge for the event but a booking system is in place to help the charity manage numbers safely.
