A rapist who brutally attacked a teenage girl in a hotel room has been jailed.
Dylan Davis launched an assault on the victim at the hotel in Nottingham city centre on 16 August 2020.
He smashed a beer bottle over the girl’s head and flushed her mobile phone down the toilet before raping her.
Davis, aged 24, of Strelley Road, Nottingham, was jailed for eight years when he appeared at Nottingham Crown Court for sentencing on Wednesday (4 September).
He had earlier been convicted of two counts of rape and one of assault occasioning actual bodily harm following a trial.
As well as raping her, Davis also threatened to kill the victim if she left, bit and punched her.
Hotel cleaning staff found the room strewn with broken glass the following day.
The victim returned home, reported the incident and was supported by specially-trained officers from Nottinghamshire Police.
When Davis was arrested he refused to admit his offending and claimed he had consensual sex with the victim.
Detective Inspector Dan Holloway, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:
“Detectives are full of admiration for this victim who has shown immense courage and dignity.
“Davis subjected her to a violent and degrading ordeal before refusing to admit what he had done. This meant the victim had to face a lengthy and distressing legal process which included a crown court trial.
“My thoughts are with her and her family as Davis begins his prison sentence.
“Without her bravery he would not have been brought to justice.
“Davis’ behaviour, in stark contrast, has been reprehensible throughout.
“I would like to thank all officers and staff who worked so tirelessly to bring Davis to justice.
“I hope the sentencing of Davis will encourage other victims of rape and serious sexual assault to have the confidence to come forward and report offenders.
“Our experienced officers are here to help the victims of appalling crimes like this.”
