Crews from Long Eaton and Stapleford attended the incident near Toton Lane.
Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service said:
‘A ”shocking” incident for us just after 2 am this morning 27 January.
‘We were called to support Long Eaton Fire Station at an electricity pylon on fire just off Toton Lane Stapleford this morning.
‘Crews used one high-pressure hose reel and a dry powder extinguisher to prevent the fire from spreading.
‘The incident was handed over to central networks, and there are no interruptions to power supplies, due to a backup plan and supply being used.
‘We believe the incident was caused by a family of rats chewing through a high power line.
‘We returned to the home station just before 4 am.’
