Rebecca Adlington officially opens new Notts swimming pool

Rebecca Adlington officially opened the new swimming pool at The Dukeries Leisure Centre.

Newark and Sherwood District Council said:
‘We are delighted to welcome 4-time Olympic medalist swimmer Rebecca Adlington, who has officially opened the doors to our brand new swimming pool at the Dukeries Leisure Centre, Ollerton.
‘Joining Rebecca are children representing Ollerton and Boughton’s Junior Town Council.
‘After 10 months of construction our brand new, five-lane pool is now up and running.

‘The pool adjoins the existing leisure centre building – which is run by our leisure company, Active4Today.
‘Customers using the Dukeries will now access the centre via a new and more accessible entrance, which has been built between the original building and the new pool extension.
‘The 20m x 10m pool is fully accessible with a traditional hoist as well as a ‘Poolpod’ – a multi-award winning swimming pool lift, originally developed for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic games.
‘The pool has its own unisex changing village and spectator area, in addition to the existing fitness suite, sports hall and exercise studios located in the main building.
‘A weekend of free taster sessions is now underway, offering everyone the chance to follow in Rebecca Adlington’s footsteps and try out the new facilities.
‘A big thank you to our project partners – Active4Today, ReCreation and Sport England – for helping us make this incredible vision a reality.’
