Fantastic display today at RAF Syerston from the RAF Red Arrows display team synchro-pairs.
Two aircraft carried out several passes of two different synchro-pairs exercises over the runway at the Nottinghamshire airfield. There’s a video coming soon!
The exercises were double-rolls and the corkscrew.
The CAA has granted a temporary Airspace change over RAF Syerston from until 17 April 2023.
This will be for the purpose of enabling the Royal Air Force Aerobatic Team to practice low-flying training, owing to the closure of their previous operating base at RAF Scampton.
The display team, which is now based at nearby RAF Waddington, will be seen in the skies over RAF Syerston in Nottinghamshire from 9 January 2023.
RAF Syerston is home to 2 Flying Training School (2 FTS) and houses both the headquarters and the RAF Central Gliding School, which provides formal training courses for members of the Volunteer Gliding Squadrons (VGS) located at various other locations around the UK.
RAF Syerston has four satellite airfields at RAF Kenley, RAF Kirknewton, RAF Little Rissington and RAF Topcliffe, from which it operates the Viking T Mk 1 glider and Robin DR400 aerotow aircraft.
A temporary airspace change has been granted by the CAA until 17 April.
