Resident describes ‘fireball’ after incident in Bulwell

Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service attended the incident on Sunday 7 August.

“I could smell smoke and heard people shouting, I opened the front door and saw what looked like a massive ball of fire heading towards my house.”

This is how one resident described an incident yesterday in Bullwell.

Crews from Stapleford Fire Station Stockhill Fire Station and Ashfield Fire Station arrived quickly and immediately set to work.

A spokesperson said:

‘We created a fire break using four hosereel jets and wildfire beaters.

‘Revisits continue to the site to ensure that no hot spots remain.

‘With weather warnings issued for a further heatwave, we are asking you to help us.

‘Forget disposable BBQ’s – the risk of a fire starting is too great.

‘If you do spot a fire, don’t delay. Call 999 and ask for the fire service.

‘Keep calm and get everyone out and away as quickly as you can.’
