Residents return to their homes after Nottingham evacuation

Residents have been able to return to their homes following an incident within a residential address in Sneinton this morning (Wednesday 8 April 2020).

Emergency services were called to Baden Powell Road at around 6.40 am.

About 30 homes were evacuated as a precaution after a smell of gas was reported from the property and nearby roads were closed. Those evacuated were taken to a local church hall.

People have now been able to return to their homes after the property was made safe and roads have since re-opened.

A man has been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and threats to kill in relation to the incident. Police are not currently looking for anyone else in connection with the incident and no-one was injured.

“I would like to thank people for their patience and cooperation while the incident was being dealt with during what is an exceptionally difficult time for all our communities.

“I’m pleased residents were able to return to their homes after it was deemed to be safe for them to do so.”
