East Midlands Railway passengers are being advised to travel only if essential during strike action on Saturday 8 August and Saturday 15 August.
Members of the RMT union are due to strike on both days, with EMR operating a significantly reduced timetable on its Intercity and Connect routes.
Services will begin at 07:00 and finish before 19:00. EMR plans to run one train per hour between Nottingham and London St Pancras, one per hour between Sheffield and London St Pancras and one per hour between Corby and London St Pancras.
Regional services are not affected by the strike action and are expected to operate normally. However, engineering work on Saturday 8 and Sunday 9 August will affect the Liverpool Lime Street to Norwich route.
Trains will not call at Ilkeston, Langley Mill or Alfreton during the work, while Sheffield will have a significantly reduced service.
First Class accommodation on Intercity trains will be temporarily declassified while the strike timetable is operating, allowing all passengers to use the available seats.
First Class ticket holders and season ticket holders travelling on the affected Saturdays should contact EMR’s Customer Service Centre for information about refunds. Passengers who bought tickets from another retailer should contact that company directly.
Separate action short of a strike is also taking place until Friday 7 August, from Sunday 9 to Friday 14 August, and from Sunday 16 August until further notice. EMR said this could lead to short-notice alterations and cancellations.
Passengers should check their entire journey before setting out, including the times of the first and last trains, and allow additional time.
