Robin Hood Twitter account experiences HUGE growth in followers in 24 hours

A Twitter account set up to promote the Robin Hood legend has seen an explosion of interest over 50,000 people have signed up as followers in the last 24 hours.

The reason for this spike in social media interest is connected to people searching for the Robinhood share trading app which is currently experiencing a very high profile on social media.

The account @robinhood is based in Sherwood in Nottingham and is home to the internet-based World Wide Robin Hood Society as well as giving the latest news about the world’s favourite outlaw.

While people may not have landed at the account they were expecting, they seem to be delighted with what they have found instead.

Nottingham is the home of Robin Hood and is currently expecting renewed interest in the  legend with the transformed Nottingham Castle heritage attraction due to open its doors later this year.

On behalf of @robinhood, Lisa Douglas said:

“It’s been an incredible 24 hours. We want to thank everyone who has followed us and sent us messages about how pleased they were to find us. It’s been a bit of a challenge, particularly as we’ve been overwhelmed with orders for items in our online shop, but we’re delighted to have so much interest.

We know how much Robin Hood means to people across the world. He’s a global phenomenon and a beacon for social justice, romance and fairness. Everyone knows and grew up with his legendary tales so we’re really pleased to be able to share our love of the legend with the widest possible audience”.
