Robinson Signs New Deal At The Bay

Nottingham Rugby are pleased to announce that fullback Billy Robinson has signed a new, one-year deal with the club, with the 29 year-old extending his stay until the end of the 2017/18 season.

The former Moseley and Ealing Trailfinders back joined the club back in the summer of 2014 and has been a mainstay in the Green & Whites squad since. However, injury has sidelined Robinson for a large portion of the current campaign, with the fans favourite making just 9 appearances to date this season, scoring one try.

The importance of having Robinson’s presence on the field is key to head coach Ian Costello’s plans for next season, as Costello went on to explain:

Notts council chairman's engagements this week

“Billy is one of the natural leaders and more-experienced players we have in the group and he’s played at this level for a long time. Having somebody as committed and dedicated as he is, is really central to what we’re trying to do going forward.

“We have a young side and at key times in the season, whilst he was out injured, his influence on the way we play was sorely missing, so for Billy to commit his future here next year is key to our plans for next year.”

With eleven players now already confirmed for next season, many more re-signings and new signings are expected to be confirmed over the coming days and weeks, so keep your eyes on the club’s website and social media for all the latest updates.
