Ruddington’s Olivia Swift, a former midwife launched Lotus Maternity to help mums with breastfeeding, now the awards are starting to roll in!
Lotus Maternity is pleased to be announce that its premium, unique and UK made nursing tops have been shortlisted for another set of awards! The Made for Mums Awards recently contacted Olivia, the founder and director of the company, expressing an interest in her products. The competition is huge with last year’s awards receiving 596 entries in 82 categories, 3000 hours of testing and judging and 120,000 votes cast!
Being awarded a Made for Mums awards is a huge stamp of approval for products in the nursery industry. The products are judged stringently by the team at Made for Mums, real mums, dads (and their kids) alongside public votes. Made for Mums are an online resource where parents can find the very best products on the market, “It’s our day job to test thousands of parenting products each year to provide the best, most honest, comprehensive and useful parenting reviews. With these awards, we’ve taken it one step further by finding, judging and awarding all the very best in various different categories.”
Having won the bronze award for ‘Best of British for Parents’ at the 2017 Best Baby and Toddler and Gear awards by Mumii UK, Olivia is delighted to be shortlisted in another major industry award for the tops, ‘designed by midwives for mothers.’ It is another huge achievement for the creator and local entrepreneur.
Lotus Maternity has developed a unique, premium range of British made nursing tops which allow women to feel at ease whilst breastfeeding in public. Their floaty designs offer complete discretion, as the chiffon outer layer provides the perfect nurturing environment for breastfeeding, without compromising functionality. Its transparency allows you to easily check correct positioning and attachment, whilst maintaining the upmost discretion.
The founder of the company, Olivia Swift, recognised during her midwifery training the difficulties new mothers can face when trying to exclusively breastfeed: “Through my conversations with hundreds of women trying to establish breastfeeding, I began to understand the apprehensions mothers had with public feeding, especially as some people still seem a little uneasy with it.
“I empathised with their concerns and why they were not always comfortable with the idea. I wanted to do something to change this as I appreciate the importance of being able to get out and socialise with a newborn. I identified a gap in the market for completely discreet, yet stylish nursing wear- from this, Lotus Maternity was born.”
Helping women to facilitate breastfeeding is a huge passion of Olivia’s. So she set upon thinking how she could help not only the women she was caring for but also every other mother. She wanted to design a piece of clothing that enabled women to breastfeed discreetly in public without the use of muslin cloths or other materials to cover up. Olivia continues to help women with breastfeeding, through the facilitation of local mother and baby groups and voluntary work at the infant feeding cafe at the QMC.
The brand launched last March at ‘The Baby Show’ at London’s Excel and Olivia’s products have been well received in the industry. “To win an award in our launch year was a great achievement for Lotus Maternity, so I am so thrilled to announce that the tops have been shortlisted for another! I have put all my energy and efforts into creating the products and developing the brand this past year so it’s nice to be recognised on such major platforms.”
The exclusive collection not only flatters your figure beautifully but is perfect for purpose, where style does not come second to practicality. The exquisite design and gorgeous fabrics also mean they are the kind of pieces that you won’t just love now, you’ll love wearing long after you’re finished feeding. They can be dressed up or down to suit any occasion, as your social life doesn’t need to stop just because you’re breastfeeding!
Incorporating the ethos behind a lotus birth being 100% natural, the feeding slip is made from premium bamboo fibre material; the equivalent to cotton as what cashmere is to wool. For a super soft, gentle touch, bamboo has the added benefit of antibacterial and moisture absorbing properties to help you feel dry and comfortable, day or night. It is also environmentally friendly, which is at the forefront of Lotus Maternity’s values, with it being the fastest growing plant in the world and thrives naturally without the use of pesticides and fertilisers, making it less likely to irritate both you and your precious newborn’s sensitive skin. Finally this gorgeous, luxury stretch jersey makes you feel incredibly feminine and complements your individual style!
