Rushcliffe Arena turns red for remembrance

Rushcliffe Arena will turn red today and tomorrow.

Rushcliffe Borough Council has turned the lights red at the arena to remember all those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice in conflicts across the globe.

The Mayor of Rushcliffe Cllr Sue Mallender is inviting the community to join her and local dignitaries in observing a two minute silence to mark Armistice Day this Thursday, 11 November.

All are welcome to attend the Remembrance event on Central Avenue in West Bridgford which begins shortly before 11am with a bugler playing The Last Post on the stroke of the hour – and the two minute reflection.

Cllr Mallender said: “It is so important that we pay our respects for Armistice Day, especially after COVID restrictions meant we were not able to in this way in 2020.

“I invite residents and the local community to join me in the two minute silence in West Bridgford. Please arrive in good time ahead of 11am and walk, cycle or travel by public transport wherever possible.”
