Rushcliffe Big Business Carbon Club meet and share learning for carbon reduction

Partners and enterprises from across Rushcliffe have again come together for Rushcliffe Borough Council’s Big Business Carbon Club, sharing learning, views and skills on their carbon reduction journeys.

Representatives from British Geological Survey (BGS), University of Nottingham, Artex, Ideagen, MHR Global and Belvoir Health Group and the Council were among those to attend the club’s latest meeting on May 18 at the headquarters of the British Geological Survey in Keyworth.

The session saw them complete an interactive Climate Fresk workshop – a ‘causes and consequences’ card game that highlighted the impact of human activity on climate change, kindly co-ordinated by Rina Jones from Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire Energy Partnership and Mack Craighead from Bassetlaw District Council

Part of the authority’s Carbon Clever mission and Climate Change Strategy is seeking to engage with businesses to find ways to work towards becoming carbon neutral.

Rushcliffe Borough Council’s Director for Neighbourhoods and Deputy Chief Executive Dave Banks said: “A huge thanks to all businesses who participated so enthusiastically in this latest and first in-person meeting and to BGS for hosting.

“One of the aims of the club was to bring together big businesses across the Borough that were interested in becoming low carbon champions and sharing their skills and knowledge with one another.

“Over the last 12 months it has been great to hear about the fantastic work at each organisation and the support, energy and participation from all is a credit to these Rushcliffe organisations placing such an emphasis on carbon reduction.

“We are keen as a group to encourage other businesses, our supply chains, our employees and local residents to take action themselves to tackle their carbon footprint.

“The networks and relationships we are building will help to sustain an environment of mutual support as we continue our low carbon journeys and encourage more Rushcliffe businesses to join us. Simply email communities@rushcliffe.gov.uk to find out more.”
