Simon Robinson, leader of Rushcliffe Borough Council comments after the local elections on 2nd May.
Simon Robinson, Rushcliffe Borough Council’s Conservative Leader, said after Thursday’s results:
“In the context of the national picture, we are reasonably happy to retain 29 seats on the Council and keep a very healthy majority.
“We were obviously very disappointed to lose seats in Ruddington and East Leake but to win all three seats in Cotgrave was a major triumph and a great testament to the huge amount of work and investment the Authority has invested in the town.
“Without any question, national issues played a major part in this election. We campaigned on Rushcliffe being one of the best places to live anywhere in the UK and the fact as a Conservative controlled council we have won major national awards for our services and have currently been nominated as Council of The Year for 2019.
Going forward we want to build on this success and continue to deliver the best services anywhere in the Country.”
