Residents can now renew or join the Rushcliffe garden waste service for green collections.
Rushcliffe Borough Council’s garden waste service is now open for new and existing customers, providing gardeners with regular green bin collections for less than 91p a week.
All customers can sign up or re-subscribe now at www.rushcliffe.gov.uk/rushcliffegw, and emails and letters inviting residents to re-join the service will be distributed shortly.
Residents can place grass cuttings, hedge clippings, twigs and small branches, weeds with excess soil shaken off, flowers, plants, leaves, and bark in their green bins to help keep their gardens looking fantastic in 2025.
The garden waste scheme removes the need for trips to the recycling centre—a great way for residents to become more ‘Carbon Clever’ by reducing their carbon footprint.
Households can also manage their garden waste collections with MyAccount, a one-stop shop for many Council services.
This means they can sign up, pay for additional green bins for their property, and check when their next green bin collection is due—all in one place.
The Council’s Cabinet Portfolio Holder for Environment and Safety, Cllr Rob Inglis, said:
“Our service continues to represent good value for money, far cheaper than other private collection options, and saves unnecessary time and fuel heading to your local Household Waste Recycling Centre.
“We would encourage residents to sign up using MyAccount, where not only can they manage their garden waste collection, but they can also report anything from a missed bin collection to an overgrown hedge with just a few clicks online.
“The green waste we collect is subsequently recycled and reused at a site just outside the borough in Oxton, meaning it’s great for the environment too.”
The service costs £47, entitling green-fingered residents to year-round fortnightly collections, apart from a short period over Christmas and New Year. Extra bins cost £37 each.
After applying to the scheme, residents will be issued with a sticker to place on the rear of the bin to identify that it has been paid for, helping waste collection operatives.
