Police in Rushcliffe have been monitoring traffic speeds on the A46 in Rushcliffe.
Nottinghamshire Police recently warned motorists not to take advantage of the drop in traffic volumes during the coronavirus lockdown to drive faster than normal.
A spokesperson for Notts Police in Rushcliffe said:
‘We have had an officer from the Nottinghamshire Police Roads Policing unit patrolling the A46 through Rushcliffe in a marked police vehicle recently.
‘During the last month they have issued tickets to 10 drivers for travelling over 90mph.
‘Issued a ticket for a driver using their mobile phone whilst driving. One driver had their vehicle taken off them for having no insurance and driving otherwise in accordance with a licence.
‘Two drivers were issued with section 59 notices. This relates to their manner of driving, if they are seen again driving below the required standard their vehicles will be seized from them.
‘Another driver was caught at 105 mph on the A46 near Bingham.
‘We have been getting some calls from local residents about vehicles being driven at speed along this stretch and adjoining roads, further patrols will be carried out by the road’s policing team who will also utilise an unmarked police vehicle.
‘The officers also cover other roads within Nottinghamshire.’
