Rushcliffe schools take part in pupil parliament at Westminster

PUBLISHED:

This week representatives from 27 Rushcliffe schools took part in the second Rushcliffe Learning Alliance Pupil Parliament visit to Westminster.

The pupils aged between 6 and 11 years old enjoyed a visit to the Parliamentary Education Centre, which included a guided tour of the House of Commons, House of Lords and Westminster Hall.
The children were encouraged to work together to discuss an idea for a new law, debate with the whole group and then vote on it in one of the two workshops they attended.
Afterwards, they took in some of the nearby sights, such as the Victoria Tower Gardens, the River Thames and Parliament Square, adding to a unique and memorable experience, brought about following the RLAPPs link with UK Parliament.
