A Teaching Assistant from a school in Bingham has won a top accolade at the Pearson National Teaching Awards 2022.
Erica Wallis has worked in her role for nearly three decades at Robert Miles Infant School, which is part of the Nova Education Trust.
She was named Teaching Assistant of the Year and awarded a Certificate of Excellence in recognition for her outstanding work at the school.
First established in 1998, the awards are an annual celebration of excellence in education and recognise the amazing work of teachers across the UK.
“It’s a huge honour for me to receive this award after working for Robert Miles Infant School for 26 years,” said Erica.
“I feel very overwhelmed and proud to work with a fantastic team.
“I love the children I work with and find great pleasure in being such an important person in their educational journey.”
In March and April, a team of expert category judges at the Teaching Awards Trust sort through the entries, select and then visit finalists to see them at work.

“Her dedication to the school and our families is evident in how well liked and respected she is by our community.
“Erica has a calm, unflappable nature and she cares about all of our young people. I know Erica enjoys her time with our children as they do with her.
“It is great that Erica has been acknowledged for the work she does at Robert Miles Infant School and her commitment to the team she works with.”
