Ruth Edwards presents Spring Poster entries to Gamston Vaccine Centre

Ruth Edwards MP paid a visit to the vaccine centre at Gamston and presented artwork, designed by primary school children from across Rushcliffe, to cheer up staff, volunteers and visitors to the community centre.

The competition was launched over the Easter holidays to help spread the message of hope through the pandemic. The children were given the opportunity to demonstrate their artistic flare and have their designs put on display for everyone to see.

Following the submissions, the team at the vaccine centre judged the entries to choose a winner and two runners-up. Choosing the winning entries was extremely difficult and after careful consideration it was announced that the winner was Shreeya, aged 7 (West Bridgford) followed by the runners-up Callum, aged 11 (Gotham) and Emily, aged 8 (West Bridgford) – all of the winners be sent a certificate along with book vouchers as a prize.

Ruth has spent several hours volunteering with the staff at the vaccine centre and she has been hugely impressed by the dedication and work that all the staff and volunteers have shown in rolling-out the vaccine in Rushcliffe.

“It was great to see so many wonderful entries to my 2021 Spring Poster Competition. Over the last year, we have seen the fantastic talent that children and young people from across Rushcliffe have shown in entering my previous competitions.

“Once again, the children have risen to the challenge and their designs will be enjoyed by all the staff, volunteers and visitors at the Gamston Vaccine Centre.

“I would like to thank everyone who entered the competition. I know all the designs will take pride of place at the vaccine centre and will be enjoyed by everyone waiting for their jab.”

Kate Wilshire, from the Gamston Vaccine Centre said:

“The Vaccine has been key to us moving out of the pandemic. Being a part of the mass vaccination programme is a real privilege and a time that we will all look back on with great pride. The hard work, dedication and commitment of an amazing and diverse team of staff is evident . Along with the army of volunteers, all of us working together to ensure our population receive a timely vaccination and good experience. We cannot express enough our gratitude to the local and surrounding community who have supported the programme and the Gamston hub from the very beginning. Whether that be through donations of delicious calorific treats, soft drinks or thoughtful messages and cards. We particularly love all the artwork donated by local school children helping to bring a smile and lifting the spirits of all that pass through the centre, affirming to us all that brighter days are coming.”
