Sabri Lamouchi says he is so proud to have been named as Nottingham Forest head coach and cannot wait to get stuck into the role.
The Frenchman was named as the club’s new head coach on Friday and says he is looking forward to taking charge of matches at The City Ground and trying to bring a feeling of positivity back to the club.
Speaking to iFollow Forest, he said: “It is a big honour for me but a big challenge also. It is a big club with a lot of expectation because it has a large fanbase and a great history so we must do our job which is to give our very best from the beginning.
“I’ve lost my voice after only two days in the job so I must be careful about that but I’m so proud to be in this family. This club is a really important one in England so we will try and create a positive atmosphere and take everybody along with us, the staff, the players and of course, the fans.”
“I was really surprised when I arrived at the club. It has been through many changes in a short space of time but the quality of the staff and of the players is very good. I’m really positive about what I have found here and I hope to be this positive in six months’ time.”
Lamouchi took charge of his first game on Tuesday night as Forest drew 0-0 with Dundee in Spain and the head coach says there were plenty of positives to build on as The Reds move towards the start of the Sky Bet Championship season.
He said: “It was tough out there tonight. I saw many good things but also things that weren’t quite so good so we will go away and work on those things.
“We will try to put more intensity into the training sessions and get the players to work in my way but I appreciate that the players will now have to train in a different way. We must be patient but also remember that the league starts in one month so we need to work quickly.
“It is important that the players put in maximum effort and make many sacrifices. Not just for themselves but for everyone who is involved with this football club. When people show trust in you and make you the head coach, you must give something back and I want to give a lot back.”
