No wonder the Year 6 pupils at Plumtree School are smiling so broadly after achieving such success in their recent entrance examinations for local independent secondary schools.
Not only did every pupil at Plumtree’s small, independent village school secure a place at their first choice of secondary school, but the vast majority achieved scholarships for academia, music and all-round excellence.
Head Teacher, Mr Phil Simpson, attributed this remarkable accomplishment to being, ‘blessed to have small class sizes with such strong staff to pupil ratios, allowing for the very highest standards of personalized teaching and learning.’
Despite their remarkable success in the competitive examination process, Mr Simpson believes that, ‘it is Plumtree’s rich and broad curriculum which builds the foundation for the children’s bright futures. As teachers, it is our duty to ignite a genuine passion for learning and to see children as individuals, celebrating their personal strengths and characteristics.’
Mr Simpson’s views are echoed by Eloїse Chita, who is looking forward to becoming a scholar in Year 7. She said, ‘I have achieved more than I ever would in my time at primary school and am so happy to have gained two scholarships.’
