Two injured firefighters are recovering at home.
Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service said:
‘A fire investigation at Harrington Junior School in Long Eaton has concluded that the fire was accidental, most likely caused by hot works taking place on-site, part of the ongoing refurbishment.
Workers carrying out the refurbishment did everything they could to contain the fire and despite the hard work of fire crews, the school was totally destroyed.
The two firefighters who sustained minor injuries are now recovering at home.
Firefighters remain on-site damping down.’
Firefighters were first called to attend a fire in the roof of the school at 12.12 hours on 28 May.
