Sculpture stolen from Colwick Woods

Police are seeking the public’s help after a carved hawk sculpture was ripped out of the ground and stolen from a woodland footpath.

The distinctive sculpture was installed within Colwick Woods as part of a wider community project to enhance the nature reserve.

Another sculpture, of an owl, was reported to have been moved but thankfully wasn’t stolen.

Officers are investigating the theft which is believed to have happened between 4am and 12pm on 6 September 2023.

Police Constable Jemma Fenn, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:

“A lot of hard work has gone into this project to improve the local area and bring happiness to the local community so it’s very sad someone could stoop so low to steal this sculpture.

“We are now appealing for the public’s help to trace it and I would urge any who knows anything about the theft or the sculpture’s whereabouts to please come forward.”

Anyone who was any information which could help police with their inquiries into the theft, including the whereabouts of the sculpture, is urged to call Nottinghamshire Police on 101, quoting crime occurrence 23000560909, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
