Serial shoplifter banned from shops in Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire

A serial shoplifter has been jailed and banned from entering a number of stores across parts of Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire.

William Zygmuntowski was caught on CCTV stealing meat from a fridge at the Central Co-op Food store in Langley Mill before concealing it in his coat and walking out of the shop.

This was the latest in a series of shoplifting offences committed by the 40-year-old and he was later arrested and charged with theft.

Zygmuntowski, of Andrews Drive, Heanor, admitted the offence at Southern Derbyshire Magistrates’ Court on Saturday 25 October and was jailed for one month.

He was also made the subject of a Criminal Behaviour Order not to enter any Co-op, Tesco, Boyes, Home Bargains or Farmfoods in Heanor, Langley Mill and Eastwood.

The CBO started on October 25 and will last for two years.

Failure to comply with the conditions of a CBO is an arrestable offence which could result in a prison sentence, fine or both.
