Serving police officer charged with misconduct in public office

A serving police officer has been charged with misconduct in public office.

Kashif Saghir, of Nottingham, appeared at Leicester Magistrates’ Court on Friday 17 October after being charged with misconduct in public office.

The allegation against PC Saghir is that between September 14 and October 14, 2024, while acting as a police constable in Derby, he wilfully misconducted himself by pursuing an improper relationship with a vulnerable woman he met whilst on duty.

The officer, who remains a serving member of the constabulary, has been suspended from duty and will next appear at Leicester Crown Court on 1 December.
