Shed burglar charged after bikes stolen

Another resident in the same street reported an attempted shed break-in on 27 December, with the offender fleeing empty-handed after an alarm sounded.

Detectives investigating a series of offences in Nottingham have charged a suspect.

A burglary was reported on 10 December after two bikes were stolen from a garden shed in Watcombe Circus, Carrington.

Another resident in the same street reported an attempted shed break-in on 27 December, with the offender fleeing empty-handed after an alarm sounded.

Two days later, officers were alerted to a man walking up to a car in nearby Danethorpe Vale, Sherwood, and checking the handles to try and gain entry. No access was gained.

Following inquiries, a suspect was arrested on Tuesday (21 January).

Joel Emmet, of Burford Road, Hyson Green, has been charged with burglary, attempted burglary and vehicle interference.

The 43-year-old is due to appear at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court today (22 January).

Detective Chief Inspector Claire Gould, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:

“Many of these offences occurred in the same area and we understand the concern this caused.

“I hope people in the community are reassured by our robust investigation which has now seen this suspect charged with a series of offences and placed before the courts.”
