Police investigating a report of a man threatening a shopkeeper with a screwdriver in the Meadows have arrested a 33-year-old man in connection with the incident.
Police were called to the Co-op store in Bridgeway Centre at around 7.10 pm on Friday 5 June after a man was reported to have stolen goods from the shop.
A man is thought to have threatened to stab a staff member when they tried to confront him about placing jars of coffee in a carrier bag.
Detectives investigating the incident arrested the 33-year-old man in connection with the report yesterday. He remains in custody for questioning.
Detective Sergeant Karl Thomas, of Nottinghamshire Police’s dedicated Robbery Team, said: “Joint work from our Neighbourhood Policing Team, and Neighbourhood support Teams in the Meadows has led to us making an arrest as part of this investigation.
“Nottinghamshire Police is committed to tackling robbery and we will investigate all reports made to us thoroughly.
“While we have made an arrest, our investigation is ongoing. I’d encourage anyone with any information on this incident to get in touch via 101 quoting incident number 599 of 5 June 2020.”
