A prolific shoplifter has been jailed after he was caught putting stolen items into an Uber Eats backpack at a Radford supermarket.
Jordon King was captured on CCTV taking sweet packs and chocolate off shelves at Morrisons, Ilkeston Road, at 11am on Saturday (4 January).
A little over twenty minutes after the offence, the 29-year-old – who has multiple previous convictions for theft including £100 worth of Easter eggs – was spotted on the same road before being detained by officers.
An Uber Eats backpack was then recovered further down the street, full of the stolen items.
Appearing at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on Monday (5 January), King, of no fixed address, pleaded guilty to one count of theft from a shop and was jailed for four weeks.
He must also pay back the cost of items stolen.
PC Daisy Sawford, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:
“King is a prolific offender whose actions are not only damaging to local businesses, but also locals who spend their hard-earned cash in the same shops.
“I hope he uses this latest stint in prison to change the direction of his life, because if he doesn’t, we will continue to arrest him and lock him up.”
