A suspect has been arrested after a shopper was reportedly discovered carrying a knife.
Officers were called to a store in Angel Row, Nottingham city centre, following reports of a disturbance.
After arriving at the scene at around 7.45 pm on Thursday (2 February), officers found the staff at the shop were holding a suspect.
A security guard then handed over a knife that had reportedly been seized from the suspect during a search inside the store.
Police have arrested an 18-year-old man on suspicion of possessing an offensive weapon in a public place.
He remains in police custody.
Inspector Sharon Powar, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “There is never an excuse for anyone to carry a knife in a public place – for the simple reason that doing this is incredibly dangerous.
“As well as obviously putting others in danger, carrying a knife also puts that person at more risk of harm too.
“We take all reports of knife crime extremely seriously and will continue to act quickly to resolve any incidents involving knives in a safe manner.
“I would urge anyone with any additional information about this incident to call us on 101, quoting number 740 of 2 February 2023, or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
