Shopping delivery drivers assaulted and van smashed in Notts village incident

A van was smashed and two people were assaulted in a robbery which police have been investigating.

The delivery drivers were taking a break from delivering groceries when they were approached in Stepnall Heighs, Boughton.

After asking for a cigarette, it is reported that the men smashed the passenger and driver side windows, dragged two people out of the van and assaulted them.

The victims attended hospital for treatment of injuries, but they are believed to be recovering.

Two men, aged 25 and 27, have since been arrested on suspicion of robbery in connection with the incident, which happened at 5.40pm on Thursday 23 December 2021.

Detective Inspector Stuart Temple, from Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Since the incident was reported to us, we have been conducting numerous enquiries to understand what happened and gather information.

“We have now arrested two suspects in relation to the offence and they remain in custody for questioning.

“This incident was very distressing for the delivery drivers. They were simply doing their job and to face this whilst taking a break is absolutely unacceptable.

“We are now pleased to have made these arrests and we hope this offers reassurance to people of just how committed and relentless our teams are in their investigation of reports.

“Our investigation remains ongoing.”
